The team from AKW Group, based at Trafford Park, will aim to complete the ‘Trekfest’ challenge which begins and ends in the Hope Valley and takes in some of the Peak District’s most breath taking footpaths and bridleways, on Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7.

“We’ve all been doing some practice walks in the run up to the challenge but none of us are really regular walkers so we are expecting it to be really tough,” said Alex Buckley, Sales Office Co-ordinator for AKW Group, who is one of the seven AKW staff taking part.

“It’s nice to be taking part as a team of work colleagues because we are all supporting and motivating each other which makes the preparations a bit less daunting.”

Also part of AKW’s team is Ashleigh Worthington, Ash McCann, Stephen White, Steve Copas, John Bowater and Gary Russell, with each member choosing their own good causes to support.

The charities that will benefit from the team’s efforts are the NSPCC, Tommy’s, Make a Wish, the RNLI, Francis House Children’s Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

“We all have our individual reasons for supporting the charities we’ve chosen which also makes us all extremely determined to do the best we can to support them,” said Alex Buckley.

Outdoor clothing specialists and AKW customer Regatta are also supporting the team by supplying jackets, trousers and rucksacks.
