The UK’s largest kitchen and joinery specialist, Magnet, has renewed its national home delivery and transport contract with Wincanton in a long term deal. Magnet, which has close to 200 showrooms across the country, is part of Europe’s largest kitchen group, Nobia.

WincantonThe deal sees the continuation of Wincanton’s two-man home delivery and transportation service from Magnet’s North East manufacturing plant in Darlington to Magnet’s UK wide customers via strategic distribution sites in Mossend (Scotland), Birmingham, Portbury (Somerset), Milton Keynes (Buckinghamshire) and Gatwick.

Paul Symmons, Nobia Supply Chain Director – Western Europe, said: “The Magnet brand is synonymous with quality, craftsmanship and customer care and these are the same qualities we look for in any organisation with which we do business.

“We have a long standing relationship with the Wincanton team who have delivered a consistently high level of customer satisfaction and operational performance and demonstrated a clear commitment to adding value to our business.”

To distribute Magnet’s specialist goods across the UK, Wincanton will utilise 47 vehicles handling approximately 2,100 loads and almost 40,000 deliveries of kitchen furniture, appliances and internal joinery products a year.

According to Liam McElroy, Wincanton’s managing director for retail,  strategic plans for Magnet’s transport network, supported by the introduction of bespoke double deck trailers to consolidate the transportation of kitchen and joinery together with the investment in Wincanton’s award winning home delivery systems, will create a “step change” in customer satisfaction and performance.

“By remaining at the forefront of supply chain innovation, Wincanton consistently adds value to our customers’ operations and we are delighted that Magnet has recognised our commitment to continuous improvement and customer care. We look forward to building on our partnership and enhancing the Magnet customer journey. ”
