Following the enormous success of last year’s inaugural three-day charity bike ride from Manchester to Amsterdam that raised over £20,000, TIP’s ‘Fat Bottomed Boys’ are once again hitting the road in May this year, with a follow up charity bike ride that will cover the 320 kms from Manchester to Galway.

Tip webAccording to Charity Ride sponsor and organiser, TIP Trailer Services Commercial Director Mike Furnival, “Once more, we have challenged a crack squad of ageing, unfit victims to complete a ridiculously arduous bicycle journey from our UK HQ in Manchester. This year, instead of turning right out of our offices and aiming for Amsterdam, we’re going to turn left out of the head office gates and aim to reach our Celtic cousins in faraway Galway.”

The goal is to complete the trip in 3 days traversing the Cheshire plains into the beautiful city of Liverpool. From Liverpool, the cyclists will cross the Irish Sea by ferry, over to Dublin, before pushing west across the Emerald Isle until the intrepid cyclists hit the Atlantic Ocean at Galway City.

The money raised will be divided between three charities: the national charity for Cancer Research, the regional charity of Donna Louise who cares for terminally ill children and their families, and the Air Ambulance Service.

Last year, we were staggered by the level of support that we received for these deserving charities and it was an obvious decision to embark upon a second charity bike ride this year. The support for these charities is vital to their continued progress and I am pleased to say that we had a fantastic response from TIP’s staff, customers and suppliers, in terms of volunteer cyclists, “added Furnival.

Once again, the target for the TIP Fat Bottom Boys charity bike ride is £20,000 and donations to all three charities can be made via the website link at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/TIPFatBottomBoysRideAgain
