Over the past 10 years, TCR Food Service has gradually switched its distribution fleet over to Isuzu, and the two latest trucks to join their fleet are Isuzu Forward 11tonne rigids, which are delivering the company’s products to fish fryers and takeaways across the West Midlands.

Two Isuzu F110.210 rigids, fitted with Jacksons Coachworks refrigerated bodies, have just gone into service for TCR Food Service, taking the total number of Isuzus in their fleet to 12.

“Our experience with running Isuzus for the last 10 years is that they are exactly what our industry needs, as they give us the payload that we are looking for, as well as giving us the reliability we need for our distribution operations,” said Brian Matthews, managing director, TCR Food Service.

Brian continues, “We are food manufacturers, so we need our distribution vehicles to deliver our products under the correct temperature control. The combination of Isuzu and the Jacksons bodywork is the ideal solution for us.”

Family run TCR Food Service Ltd, who were founded in 1999, supply over 650 take-away businesses, and their business model means they need vehicles that carry an interesting and vast mix of products.

One of the latest Isuzu 11 tonners has been specified with a Jacksons combo body, which features a refrigerated box body at the front for chilled and frozen produce, and a curtainsided body at the rear for ambient goods. Supplying everything from fish, chicken and sausages to cleaning products and oils/fats, the combination of a curtainsided rear section with a refrigerated box at the front allows them to carry all the company’s products on one vehicle.

TCR Food Service is also impressed by the overall compact footprint of the Isuzu as it enables them to maximise the payload of the body while also delivering to areas with limited or restricted access. As Brian explains, “We deliver to between 20 and 30 shops per day per truck with these vehicles and these deliveries are generally in narrow urban areas with restricted or limited access. The Isuzus are perfect for this type of delivery.”

TCR Food Service anticipate that they will run the two new 11 tonne Isuzu Forwards for at least seven years, after which the refrigerated bodies will enter theirsecond life on new replacement chassis. All the Isuzu trucks have been supplied to TCR Food Service by local Isuzu Truck dealer Aquila Truck Services in Tipton.

“The Isuzu truck chassis with the Jacksons bodywork presents an excellent image of our company to our customers, and they are supported by an excellent service network during their working life. The Isuzu trucks are really good all-round vehicles and just what we need for our business,” commented Brian Matthews.

The full range of Isuzu trucks can be viewed on the company’s website www.isuzutruck.co.uk
