The Microlise Transport Conference looks set to deliver its strongest programme to date when the event takes places on May 17  at The Ricoh Arena in Coventry. Now Europe’s largest road transport conference, over 1,000 professionals from across the transport industry will attend the conference again next month.

Chaired by Quentin Willson, motoring industry journalist, author, TV presenter and campaigner, the conference agenda will touch on the key issues affecting commercial fleet operators with presentations delivered by a range of leaders and experts in their fields.

The conference keynote will be delivered by John Hayes MP, Minister of State at the Department for Transport, who took on the role as part of the government formed by Prime Minister Theresa May. During his address, Hayes will highlight the work being done by the government to support the industry, for example in helping to address the skills shortage.

Delegates will hear from two operators, with John Court, CIO at Eddie Stobart, and Nigel Tullet, Commercial, IT & Property Director at Bibby Distribution, both set to take to the stage. An update on the DVSA’s Earned Recognition Next Generation Enforcement programme will be delivered by Gordon MacDonald, Head of Enforcement Policy.

A range of additional speakers and panel sessions will cover topics such as Insurance & Technology, last-mile delivery, compliance enforcement, the changes to data protection in the form of GDPR, and the future of the UK and its impact on logistics.

In addition to the main theatre agenda, delegates will also get access to three workshop areas run by Microlise, the Road Haulage Association and Motor Transport, media partners of the event. The workshop programmes allow delegates to tailor their experience to focus on topics that are most of interest and relevant to their organisations.

Last but not least, delegates will also be able to attend the Motor Transport led panel entitled “Truck to the Future”, which will feature senior executives from four of the leading truck manufacturers; DAF Trucks, MAN Truck & Bus, Scania and Iveco. Group Managing Editor at Road Transport Media, Chris Walton, will moderate the session which will offer a unique opportunity to get the perspectives of the truck manufacturers on a range of topics.

“We feel that the agenda this year is particularly strong, featuring some fantastic speakers talking to the topics that matter the most to operators,” said Nadeem Raza, Chief Executive Officer at Microlise.

“The conference is designed to give delegates valuable insights and information on the key issues and provide them with knowledge they can take back to their own organisations. We’re very confident that the agenda this year, supported by the three workshop areas, will do just that.”

Registration for the free-to-attend conference can be completed at www.microliseconference.com, where further information on the programme, speakers and exhibitors is also available.
