The firm, which started as a small business transporting churns of milk, has officially opened its new head office at a five acre site in Lancaster, just four miles from its previous site.

Sixty operational planning and administration staff work at the new site which also has a 10 bay workshop, 13 bay milk transhipment facility and parking for 50 tractor units and trailers.

The new site allows SJ Bargh to offer all services – Scania service facility, transport yard, central support and operational functions – within one yard.

“Due to the sustained growth that SJ Bargh has experienced we came to the point where our headquarters was not sufficient,” said Stuart Cornthwaite, Managing Director at SJ Bargh.

“Our new headquarters will allow us to expand the services we have at the site and gives us a fantastic facility to continue offering excellent service to our customers in the future.

“We were delighted that so many of our customers, and suppliers, were able to join us in celebrating the opening of the new site at our official open day event and we thank them for their support.”

An official event was held to celebrate the opening of the new facility and was attended by over 100 clients and key suppliers as well as the Mayor of Lancaster.

Visitors had the chance to tour the site, view SJ Bargh vehicles past and present as well as see the Palletforce rally car.

SJ Bargh first started life in 1935 and has expanded over the years opening sites in Claughton, Chester and Stoke-on-Trent and becoming a member of Palletforce, the UK and Europe’s leading palletised distribution network.

“This is fantastic news for customers of SJ Bargh, the new facility will provide a strong base for their continued success and will support them to offer the quality service they are known for,” said Michael Conroy, Chief Executive of Palletforce.
