Fast-growing Fife Creamery has invested once again in top quality temperature-controlled truck bodies from Gray & Adams. Latest additions to the fleet of Scotland’s leading supplier of chilled and specialty foods are a dozen Mercedes-Benz Atego 7.5-tonners.

gray & adamsAll have insulated, single-temperature Gray & Adams bodies built at the manufacturer’s Dunfermline production facility. But while five are brand new, the other seven were previously mounted on chassis that have now been stood down.

Fitted with Carrier Supra 750 refrigeration units, the new bodies usually operate as chillers but are also used to carry frozen products at temperatures as low as -25°C.

Kirkcaldy-based Fife Creamery has been serving the foodservice and retail sectors in Scotland since 1957. The family-owned firm, recognized by the industry as leaders in the wholesale supply of chilled foods throughout Scotland, continues to invest in its business.

The new Mercedes-Benz chassis were supplied by Central Belt dealer Western Commercial and, like all of Fife Creamery’s vehicles, are fitted with satellite tracking systems. Several are now undertaking deliveries in the Highlands.

“As we develop successfully into new market sectors we’ve been commissioning more vehicles to deliver the increased volumes,” says Logistics Manager Richard Wishart, who is responsible for Fife Creamery’s Mercedes-Benz fleet of more than 30 rigid trucks, the vast majority of them 7.5-tonners.

“We like to ‘buy local’ wherever possible and Gray & Adams is a long-standing and valued supplier to Fife Creamery,” he continues. “Its products are built to a very high standard – we tend to replace our chassis after four years but the bodies are always good for a second life. The manufacturer’s aftercare is also first class, although we rarely have any issues with our Gray & Adams equipment.”
