Operating throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland and working in collaboration with the 180 sites in the GT Radial dealer network, the service will offer a maximum 90 minute response time, putting it on par with the best in the industry, throughout 365 days of the year.

GT Assist will be managed by RAC Commercial Assistance (RACCA) who will take the initial breakdown call and find the nearest dealer who has both the correct product and capability to attend the scene within the strict timescale

All back office functions, including invoicing, will be controlled by independent tyre services network, Infleet.

A specialist iPad app has been created which allows GiTi Tire management to monitor calls and results, including times and the product placed on the waiting vehicle.

An important key feature will let GT Assist’s dealer partners’ management teams know if they have turned down a job within two hours, allowing the system to be constantly improved.

Tony McHugh, GiTi Tire (UK) truck and bus sales and marketing director, said: “We are unique in the mid-tier in providing a nationwide breakdown service. This move was essential to create the full fleet requirement package of product, price and service, and it creates a whole new market for GT Radial.

“Aside from the convenience, other added benefits will include like-for-like tyre replacement at the point of breakdown, and the partnership with RACCA and Infleet ensures a customer experience and breakdown service that is second-to-none.”

GT Assist was first introduced in Italy at the start of 2012. Further national programmes are currently being developed in France, Germany and the Benelux countries, and are expected to be launched by the middle of 2013.

GiTi Tire is one of the top 10 largest tyre companies in the world in terms of both volume and revenue. The company exports to more than 100 countries and offers a complete product range for Europe including passenger car, SUV, van, light truck, heavy truck and bus tyres.
