Essex based hotel and restaurant laundry supplier, Fresh Linen Ltd., has taken delivery of seven new Renault Midlum 220.12 trucks, through Renault Trucks distributor, Norfolk Truck and Van.Fresh Linen

They are the first Renaults that the company has taken, replacing MAN on its 12-strong fleet. The vehicles all have Optitronic gearboxes and have been fitted with larger 200 litre fuel tanks.

The new Renault Midlums, which have box bodies and 1,000kgs column tail lifts, will be used to deliver freshly laundered linen and towels to hotels and restaurants in London and the South East.

Karl Bueggeln, Financial Controller, Fresh Linen Ltd., says: “In order to streamline our operating costs, we decided to replace our fleet of 18 tonne and 15 tonne trucks with lighter vehicles. Not only is the Renault Midlum very competitively priced but it also offers us many distinct advantages. Although the Midlum is a lighter truck, it still has the volume that we require and its shorter wheelbase gives improved manoeuvrability – a key benefit, as most of our deliveries are in urban areas.”

Another of the company’s requirements was to be able to manage its fuel consumption more effectively, as Karl Bueggeln explains: “The dealer arranged for larger fuel tanks to be fitted in the new trucks. This increased fuel capacity means that our drivers can fill up at our central depot, with no need to refuel elsewhere – allowing us to budget accordingly.”

“Similarly, the automated Optitronic gearboxes mean that all of our drivers should return the same fuel, which will not only help reduce our fuel consumption but will also allow us to budget more effectively.”

The new trucks have been fitted with CCTV and phone systems. Karl Bueggeln continues: “Having CCTV fitted to the trucks helps reduce insurance claims and makes the whole insurance process quicker and easier.”

Fresh Linen Ltd. is based in Clacton-on-Sea in Essex. Established in August 2010, the company supplies a freshly laundered linen hire service to some of the world’s best hotels and restaurants. Fresh Linen Ltd. is a member of the Brilliant Laundry Group, a national laundry management service.
