Livestock haulage specialist, Chris Waite Transport, Driffield, East Yorkshire, has taken delivery of a Renault Range T 520 6 x2 rigid with sleeper cab. Supplied by the largest, privately owned Renault Trucks dealer group in the UK, Thompson Commercials Limited, the new Renault Range T is an addition to Chris Waite Transport’s 14-strong mixed Renault, Volvo and Scania fleet. The long standing relationship with Thompson Commercials, overall deal including price and previously favourable experiences with the Renault Premium were key factors in Chris Waite’s vehicle selection.CW_0001

The Range T, which went on the road at the end of June, is being used mainly to transport livestock across all parts of the UK. Attached to the Renault Range T is the award-winning ‘Platinum’ Livestock Transporter which has been designed by leading manufacturers Houghton-Parkhouse Ltd, based in Milnthorpe, Cumbria. This new 3 deck, 25ft ‘Platinum’ has many innovations providing the ultimate in livestock transportation, including patented, new spring loaded automated deck locking system, patented unique ventilation system, and space optimised design, improving payload and providing highly engineered space and weight saving design.

Commenting on the decision to bring the company’s first Renault Range T onto its fleet, Chris Waite said “The relationship that we have with Thompson Commercials, which spans 20 years, was key to my decision to bring the new Renault on board. I’ve also had Renaults in my fleet before and I’ve never had any issues with them; the ‘Range T’ was the next progression for us so I wanted to give one a try.”

Chris continued, “The vehicle has only been on the road for a week but so far I’m really happy. The early fuel figures are very promising; we are getting, on average, approximately 9.8 MPG. Our driver is also very happy and has commented particularly about the stability of the vehicle.”

Ellis Thorpe, Thompson Commercials Limited said “It’s great to hear that, after 20 years, Thompson Commercials is still providing great vehicles and service to Chris Waite Transport. I am particularly delighted to hear that the Range T is already delivering in terms of fuel consumption and that the driver has noticed the stability of the vehicle too. With the Houghtons-Parkhouse Platinum livestock transporter attached this really is the ultimate livestock haulage vehicle.”

Steven Houghton, Houghton-Parkhouse said, ”It has been a pleasure working with Renault Trucks to provide the best possible solutions for Chris Waite Transport Ltd and look forward to working with them both on future projects.”

He added, “At Houghton-Parkhouse we are continually striving to produce innovative designs with true commercial benefits for our clients’ businesses. We have worked with Chris Waite for many years and, in doing so, we understand the importance of offering design solutions to provide them with the ultimate livestock transporters for their commercial transport business.

Chris Waite Transport Ltd is a major professional livestock haulier in the UK market and it means a great deal to Houghton-Parkhouse, that they have chosen the ‘The Platinum’ Livestock transporter.”

Chris Waite Transport is based in Driffield, East Yorkshire and was set up in 1982 by Chris Waite. The company hauls mainly for Britain’s largest retailers and the vehicles all reflect Chris Waite Transport’s high quality of care and welfare for the animals they carry.
