A highly successful charity fun day for staff and families of the Knights of Old Group and TruckEast, has resulted in a cheque for £4,291 being presented to the Air Ambulance Service at a special event at Coventry Airport this month.

TIP Knights of Old Charity Cheque 02.15Kelvin Gingell of Knights of Old, one of the largest privately owned logistics companies in the Midlands, handed over the cheque to Mark Woodley, 2nd Pilot for The Children’s Air Ambulance. Also present were David Hall, Director from TruckEast, and Matthew Gripton, Area Sales Manager on behalf of TIP.

The close links between the companies and the charity was illustrated by TIP Trailer Services supplying specially designed curtains for a dedicated Knights of Old Air Ambulance curtain-sided trailer.

Mike Furnival, commercial director at TIP Trailer Services, said: ‘This trailer is now running in the Knights of Old distribution fleet and can regularly be seen on the roads across the UK, acting as a highly visible mobile advertisement for the charity.’

The Air Ambulance flies two regional air ambulances, also known as Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS). They are the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA), and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA)

The helicopters provide a rapid response to trauma and medical emergencies over an area of 3,850 square miles. They cover many of the UK’s major road networks including the M1, M6, M69 and M42. With an average response of just 13 minutes, they attend on average six missions a day.

Donations to the Air Ambulance Service are still ongoing and can be pledged by texting FLY to 70080 to donate £5.
