Leading independent commercial vehicle rental and contract hire company Burnt Tree was the main vehicle sponsor at the recently held British Cycling National Masters Road Race Championships in Bedfordshire, a two-day event with over 350 riders from all over the UK, including multiple Olympic gold-medal winning cyclist Dame Sarah Storey, taking part in six races over the weekend.

As part of its sponsorship, Burnt Tree’s branch in Peterborough provided six all-white Ford Focus vehicles that acted as highly visible lead cars for each race, positioned at the front and back of each group of cyclists to protect the riders. Two Ford Focus estate cars were also supplied by Burnt Tree and these were used as medical support vehicles.

Also attending the event was Burnt Tree’s Dreambus, an accessible minibus that was specially designed for Burnt Tree by special needs schoolchildren as part of a national art competition held earlier this year.

The British Masters cycling championship was held on the well-known central region ‘Cublington’ course close to Milton Keynes and Dunstable, a 20 km course starting and finishing just outside the village of Wing in Buckinghamshire.  With six races over two days, the championship was open to both men and women, covering all categories of rider aged 30+ and based on five year age groups.

Burnt Tree’s Peterborough branch manager Kevin Matthews was part of the overall medal presentation team at the event and, to his surprise, was selected to present the winners medal to the victorious Olympic gold-medal cyclist Dame Sarah Storey in the Women’s Masters B Race.

Burnt Tree is the UK’s largest independent commercial vehicle rental and contract hire company, offering the most diverse range of vehicles in the industry, all backed by flexible products that put its customers in control. The company operates a 17,300-strong fleet out of national branch network located throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
