East Midlands Renault trucks distributor RH Commercial Vehicles (RHCV) has sold three new trucks to Ambergate-based plant hire and excavation specialists J.C.Balls & Sons as it celebrates its golden anniversary. As part of its investment in the business, J.C.Balls & Sons has invested £380,000 into three new 8×4 Renault Kerax trucks.

J.C.Balls & Sons established 50 years ago on the Midland Industrial Estate in Ambergate and runs a plant and lorry fleet of over 40 heavy goods vehicles (HGV), which mainly consists of eight-wheeled tippers and grabbers.

The company has a staff of around 100 people, and has purchased the three new trucks to help fulfil a new contract with customer Aggregate Industries in Sheffield.

Chris Balls, Partner at J.C.Balls & Sons, commented on the new additions to the fleet, “We have been using Renault’s trucks for the past 15 years, and we have always had them from RHCV. We started with Renault Maxters and now use Kerax, but they are all well-built, robust machines – which in our industry is a must!”

Production of Renault Kerax trucks ended in 2013 and they were replaced by the Renault Trucks C and K, which are powered with Euro 6 engines.

Chris continues, “The investment in the three new Kerax is part of a strategic growth plan, and we have a fourth Kerax fitted with a mixer arriving in March. We employ RHCV to service and repair all of our Renault trucks, and with its new Alfreton-base, we will certainly be saving on mileage to and from RHCV’s site in Nottingham that we previously used.”

J.C.Balls & Sons is located less than 15 minutes away from RHCV’s 64,000 sq ft site in Alfreton, which RHCV purchased almost 12 months ago. RHCV has sites in Nottingham and Leicester and purchased Alfreton based Cotes Park Commercials last spring, as part of its strategic expansion across the East Midlands.

Paul Pearson, Director at RHCV, comments “We’re thrilled to be working with J.C.Balls & Sons, especially as they celebrate their 50th year. Expanding our footprint with the Alfreton branch was a great decision as it has really opened up a whole new customer base to us, as well as bringing us closer to our current customers.”

RHCV purchased Cotes Park Commercials last year from previous owners Robert Knowles and Mike Hayes. Since then they have implemented plans to invest a substantial amount in the site with the addition of a new local Renault parts stock, diagnostic equipment and tooling to boost the service offered to new and existing customers.

RHCV is an authorised selling agent for Renault Trucks and provides new and used sales, service and parts for the full Renault Trucks range as well as all-makes parts and servicing for commercial vehicles. It offers a full range of sales and aftermarket services including parts sales, dedicated paint shop and a designated MOT bay.
