RDM Electrical & Mechanical Services has adopted a fleet telematics solution from Ctrack to better support and protect its team of engineers, while targeting operating efficiencies and service improvements. The fleet technology solution has been rolled out across 80 vans that operate nationwide, so the company can gain real-time and historical insight into the vehicle operation and mobile employees in the field.

The Ctrack solution is already proving to be a valuable fleet tool that is helping us to improve performance, achieve efficiencies and operate more responsibly,” explains Anthony Brunton, Contract Director of RDM Electrical & Mechanical Services. “The system is highly functional and easy to use, so we expect it to become increasingly important to the business moving forward. The advanced reporting will certainly enable us to gauge fleet performance, implement continuous improvement initiatives and achieve positive change.”

Providing design, installation, maintenance, testing and reassurance services across the UK, RDM recognised the need for greater operational visibility and control to support its growth strategy. Following a review of the telematics marketplace, the company selected Ctrack based on its ability to implement a simple and effective fleet telematics and reporting solution that is proven to deliver safety, efficiency and performance benefits.

The solution uses Ctrack’s self-installed Plug & Play tracking device that connects quickly and easily to the OBD II diagnostic port of the vehicle to capture telematics data. It will provide a simple way of overseeing vehicles to detect unauthorised usage, support efficient job allocation and better track fuel consumption. It will also allow RDM to monitor driver behaviour to target safety improvements and offer protection to lone workers operating out-of-hours and in remote locations

Meanwhile, the Executive Dashboard will enable RDM to monitor key performance metrics such as driver behaviour, fuel efficiency, fleet utilisation and productivity in a single view. This reporting tool will provide business-critical summary data and high-level fleet performance trends in easy-to-understand charts and tables, with a drill down capability to access driver and vehicle information in a couple of clicks.

Steve Thomas, Managing Director, Ctrack UK commented: “We have worked closely with RDM to create a bespoke fleet technology solution that meets their precise requirements and delivers true business value. Our partnership approach will ensure RDM is supported every step of the way, and they are best placed achieve the desired safety, efficiency and sustainability improvements. We look forward to developing our relationship and identifying new ways to operate responsibly and maximise fleet performance.”
